Hyper Digital Twins Co., Ltd. (hereinafter "HDT"), a pioneer dedicated to realizing infrastructure-led autonomous driving, has been selected for the FY2024 "Startup-Creating Seed R&D Support Program" hosted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) for its R&D theme: "Realizing Autonomous Navigation for Micromobility via a Novel Paradigm of Outsourcing Autonomous Driving Functions." (Acceptance Rate: 6% / 23 selected out of 383 applications).HDT is advancing innovative autonomous driving research by placing sensors and autonomous navigation features on the infrastructure side rather than on the vehicle itself—aiming to achieve safer and more efficient autonomous driving. Utilizing LiDAR sensors and Digital Twin technology, HDT builds real-time, blind-spot-free risk assessment systems. Field demonstration trials have already been successfully conducted at Kyoto Research Park and Saitama New Urban Center Station. In modern society, as the importance of micromobility grows to achieve a decarbonized society and solve last-mile transportation challenges, securing safety amid numerous blind spots and managing cost increases caused by mounting multiple onboard sensors have become critical hurdles. To solve these challenges, HDT adopted a novel approach: installing sensors and autonomous driving capabilities on the infrastructure side to integrate and analyze data in real time. Through this R&D initiative, HDT aims to minimize communication and processing latency toward commercial deployment, targeting autonomous driving capabilities within shared pedestrian sidewalk environments.Moving forward, we will achieve smooth and secure autonomous driving by tracking multiple mobility devices and pedestrians, gaining a high-precision understanding of spatial safety, and generating optimal routes. We aim to overcome current communication and processing latencies to roll out autonomous driving services for pedestrian environments by 2025. Furthermore, we will strengthen partnerships with 5G and other telecommunication carriers to drive the social implementation of autonomous driving technology leveraging Digital Twin data.Additionally, the "ICT STARTUP LEAGUE" kick-off event, which brought together the 26 selected companies, was featured on FNN Prime Online in a segment titled "Startups Take Flight: Aiming to Spawn World-Class Enterprises."Related Links:MIC Selection Page: Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications Press Release — R&D Open Call ResultsShibaura Institute of Technology Press Release: News & Press Releases — Shibaura Institute of TechnologyFNN Prime Online: "ICT STARTUP LEAGUE Takes Flight: Aiming to Spawn World-Class Enterprises"
